About the Artist

Lixine Vela is a Kenyan artist whose sound lives at the intersection of Neo-Soul, AfroHouse & alternative rhythms.Through soft vocals, saxophone lines, and layered production, she creates immersive sonic experiences.

Vela's musical journey began with the gentle breath of the flute while in school. From then, she discovered the saxophone, and with it, a deeper voice for expression. Over time, her artistry expanded; learning and experimenting with production, and eventually creafting the sound world that would become her debut project.

Her debut project, Echoes of Us, is a cinematic drive into the highs and depths of love inspired both by the tides and calmness that water holds. The project takes you through the emotional loops that form when you love someone deeply, lose them, but still feel their current moving through you. Each song marks a moment in that cycle - the spark, the drift, the silence, the ache.

One of her defining moments was her performance at the Afrolect International Jazz Festival in Nairobi, May 2025 where she performed alongside an all-female band, Sukari Masala.
